Ayurveda
Ayurveda is an ancient system of holistic wellbeing that works hand-in-hand with yoga. At Yoga Library, our founder Ruchica Patni continues to study Ayurveda and draws on it during therapy sessions for specific conditions, helping clients manage issues such as thyroid imbalance, diabetes, sciatica and slipped disc.
Understanding Your Dosha
Vata, Pitta and Kapha are the three life forces, or doshas, that give each person their unique constitution in Ayurveda. This dosha type is innate and doesn't change over the course of a lifetime — understanding yours can offer real insight into your natural tendencies around energy, digestion and balance.
Food Guidelines
Ayurveda offers detailed guidance on eating in a way that supports your individual constitution — what to favour, what to moderate, and how the seasons and your dosha shape what "balanced eating" really means for you.

Mindful Food Combining
One lesser-known principle of Ayurveda is food combining — the idea that even healthy foods, eaten in the wrong combination, can overwhelm digestion and create imbalance. Classic examples include mixing milk with sour fruit, or eating melons alongside other foods, since each combination is thought to confuse the body's digestive fire (agni) due to differing tastes, energies and post-digestive effects. Ayurveda generally recommends eating fruit on its own, favouring freshly cooked meals over mixing fresh and leftover food, and introducing changes gradually rather than all at once.
